Mouse’s first adventure was to Fort Hunter. Fort Hunter is located off of the Susquehanna River and is a beautiful place to visit. Over the course of its history since it was first settled in 1725, Fort Hunter has been a sawmill, fort, village, is now a historic landmark.

Mouse first visited the mansion. The first section was built in 1786 with the final portion being finished in 1870.

Isn’t it lovely? Mouse posed like a pro as he sat near the front.

After exploring the mansion porch, we made our way to the riverfront. At the end of the Revolutionary War, Captain Archibald McAllister bought the land and created a working village. Research has been done, with a blog devoted to it.
The river allowed for easier trading since ships and barges could transport goods in the Susquehanna River.

The property switched hands before falling in the hands of Margaret Wister Meigs. She realized the history that she’d been willed and made Fort Hunter into a landmark.
