In a previous post, I mentioned that Mouse would visit Army Heritage Center again. It’s such a fascinating place to visit in central Pennsylvania. On this day, Mouse visited the Civil War Winter Cabins and the Revolutionary War part of the trail.

The Army Heritage trail is interesting because as you walk you encounter different periods of war history. By having this outside, the museum can give plenty of space to these various time periods.

Since the previous visit, we walked around the WWI trenches, this time we explored the Civil War. The Civil War cabins varied in construction. According to the marker, the cabins reflected the skills of the builder. During the winter, because of the weather, fighting halted for the Union and Confederates. Some cabins were built to be long term, while others were meant to last for a short period.

Mouse continued walking. He wouldn’t have enjoyed a winter. If you’d like to learn more about the Civil War you can visit the Army Heritage Center’s blog.

After finishing walking through the Civil War Cabins, we continued forward to the Block House. A part of the Revolutionary War, the Block House was a type of defensive construction. It was used in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was used during the War of 1812. Mouse sat at the mouth of its opening. You can find more about the Block House here.

Exploring history is a tiring event for Mouse. He took a nice nap afterward.
